Unlike everyone else here, my experience with Strato is actually really good. I have been running my server for almost a year now and barely got any issues. In fact, when I was going to have downtime I was notified properly by email. Prices are good, and the support in my country (NL) is mostly good but that really depends on who is on the phone.
There is no support tickets or live chat only knowledge base pages and not enough to solve problems. They keeping my credit cart information but still not paid out my billing nontheless register my domain strange. The last is the worst for me. I cant use cdn servers there is no eligible management system on strato. Run this company
Strato hosting and domain company isn't good - it is worse...
Hi, I have checked many hosting and domain companies and I found Strato hosting and domain company's price looks reasnable, they have Turkish website also was good to me and I have perchased a domain and a hosting package separately with same e-mail acount but I have received 2 diffrent acount, there where no information as other companies provides, it is surprised me then very much. Ther where no information how to connact domain to hosting and ip adress... I conatcted to them by their from but I havent got any help. I am not sad from moany I payed to them it wasent very much but I spend to much time to fine a slotshen unfortuntly I couldn sort our the issues, I never recomend this company to any one.
I was customer of Strato and I'm disappointed because Strato failed in protecting my personal information completely. Read on... I know about WHOIS and I don't mind my personal information being displayed based on a domain name. Strato also informs you about this in its Privacy Policy. But what I didn't know, and Strato should know, was that there are websites/companies providing an illegal service which is called "reverse WHOIS lookup", website/companies such as: domaintools.com, whoisology.com, whoisxmlapi.com or who.is. That means that now anyone can visit such a website, fill MY NAME (!) in as search term and see where I live, what my phone number is, what my e-mail address is, what domain names I own etc. I think the most of 1,5 million people who are customer of Strato don't realise this. Strato, the personal information of your customers is being (ab)used/sold without their permission, do something! I didn't trusted you my personal information to be abused like this. Take some legal actions against the websites such as domaintools.com!
Hello, Whois is an open protocol. Except for a few top level domains, the whois data is ALWAYS public. The tools you mentioned are legal, trusted companys. Theres no such thing as reverse WHOIS lookup. Where have you gotten that information from? Actually, on most linux computers, theres even a whois lookup tool preinstalled. Its normal that anyone can see the owner of a domain name. Thats also why there are these whois privacy data. Stratos page on this clearly specifies this.
Thats also why there are whois identity hiding services. Making your data public, thats the whole point of WHOIS!
I wanted to start my own blog so I got an account created with STRATO. I couldn't figure out how to make it all work and get my site started because it seemed to confusing. I contacted their technical support and they basically did everything for me. I was really happy that they got me up and running so quickly. I've been with them almost a year now and haven't had any further issues.
